About Te Anau and a few things to do

Helicopter pad on Te Anau lake front

The township of Te Anau is nestled on the shores of a pristine lake of the same name and is situated an easy 2.5 hours drive from Fiordland’s crowning jewel, Milford Sound. It is also only 20 minutes by bus from Lake Manapouri, which is the start of the Doubtful Sound excursion.

Whether it's a coffee fix or a quick bite, a fine dining experience or fish and chips on the lakefront, Te Anau and Manapouri have plenty of options for you to choose from.

Where to start? The obvious things to see are Milford and Doubtful Sound but there are so many other areas that demand attention. A good way to fit it all in though is watching the amazing short film at Fiordland Cinema - it's breathtaking! Be sure to talk to Rosie and Alastar to get some other good suggestions too.
